Almost there (Music & Lyrics: Daniel Erni)
(:Almost there, oh:)
I am a stranger in this town, just a letter in my hand
where you wrote your private number and "with love".
I call you up and hear your voice through the roaring traffic noise
and again I'm in the purple skys above
To hear you and to know that you're so close to me
fills my heart with joy, I'm smiling like a happy boy
Your voice turns me on and sets me free
(I) need to see you instantly, hang up and rush to me, oh my love!
You name the park where we will meet, and the number of a street,
which is standing for the promised key to you.
I ask somebody looking kind, "hi, excuse me, would you mind
help to find the way to my love?"
(:Help me, help me:)
See the crossing down the street there?
Take the next road to the right
Cross the square and go ahead until the station comes in sight.
Take the bridge across the river
Then you face the ancient fair
Turn to right and then to left and then you're almost there!
There's a bus stop near the corner
Best to take line number 5.
Number 4 would also work, but then you change at Hargrow Drive.
Take the underground at West Side
Quit the tube at St. Nazaire
To the left there is a park and then you're almost there!
I heard you just arrived in town, and my mood which has been down
instantaneously transformed into delight
You called me up right after moon, and we had to stop too soon
but the day since then is filled with magic love.
To hear you and to knowS
Now you are lost somewhere in town, in a place that makes me frown
'cause it's far away from where we planned to meet.
So I set off for you to find, (I) need to ask somebody kind
help to find this unknown street.
(:Help me, help me:)
See the crossing down the street there? S
